New Lung Cancer Test Better Predicts Survival

In the two largest clinical studies ever conducted on the molecular genetics of lung cancer, an international team led by UCSF thoracic surgeons David M. Jablons, M.D.  and Michael Mann, M.D., demonstrated that a molecular test can better predict the likelihood of death from early-stage lung cancer versus conventional clinico-pathologic staging.

Clinic Location

The Thoracic  Oncology Clinic is located on the 4th floor of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.  The main entrance is at 1600 Divisadero Street, between Post and Sutter Streets (Google Map ). Elevators to the 4th Floor are located to the left of the reception area in the main lobby. There is a public parking garage across the street at 1635 Divisadero Street, which is entered from Sutter St.

 Parking

Public parking is available in the UCSF Medical Center Garage at Mount Zion, located at 1635 Divisadero Street (see map above). The garage is accessed via an entrance on Sutter Street between Divisadero and Broderick Streets. The garage opens at 6:00 a.m. and closes at 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. 
Parking rates are as follows: First 20 minutes is $2.00, each additional 20 minutes is $2.00, daily maximum (up to 12 hours per day) $20.00  Times of operation and rates are subject to change.

Off-street parking is available on the surrounding streets as shown below. Some areas are metered and while others (West of Broderick and East of Scott) have free spaces with two (2) hour time limits. Handicapped spaces are also available. Be especially careful to observe street cleaning signs and to avoid blocking driveways or parking along red curbs. Otherwise you may be ticketed or towed.

Driving Directions
 
From the East Bay and Oakland Airport (I-80):

After crossing the Bay Bridge, stay in the second lane from the right.
EXIT to the right on "101 NORTH/GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE."
Get in the left lane and EXIT on "OCTAVIA BLVD/FELL STREET."
After 4 blocks, turn LEFT on FELL Street.
After 1 mile, turn RIGHT on DIVISADERO ST. and continue to UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion.


From the San Francisco Airport and South Bay (Highway 101, I-280):

As you approach San Francisco, stay in the left lane and follow the signs for "101 NORTH/GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE."
EXIT to the left on "101 NORTH/GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE."
Get in the left lane and EXIT on "OCTAVIA BLVD/FELL STREET."
After 4 blocks, turn LEFT on FELL Street.
After 1 mile, turn RIGHT on DIVISADERO ST. and continue to UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion.

From Marin County (Highway 101):

From the  Golden Gate Bridge, take the "DOWNTOWN" exit to LOMBARD ST.
Turn RIGHT on DIVISADERO ST. and continue to UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion.

Handicapped Access and Patient Drop-off

 There are a limited number of handicapped parking spaces on Divisadero, Sutter, Post and Scott Streets. Patients may also be dropped off along the semi-circle driveway at the front entrance of the building near the green canopies. 

Public Transportation and Shuttles

The UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center at Mount Zion is accessible via the following San Francisco Municipal Railway (MUNI) bus routes. For further MUNI information, call 415-673-6864 (415-923-6366 for Hearing Impaired TDD/TTY).  The 2 Clement, 4 Sutter, 38 Geary and 24 Divisadero bus lines all stop within one block of the clinic.


UCSF Shuttle

UCSF offers a free shuttle for patients and between our Mt. Zion campus and the main hospital at Parnassus, SF General Hospital, Laurel Heights, Mission Bay and CalTrain (see Shuttle route & schedule info ).

From the East Bay using BART

Take BART to Embarcadero Station
Walk upstairs to Market Street and take the 2 Clement to UCSF Mt. Zion Medical Center, exiting at Divisadero St.

From Marin, Sonoma and Napa Counties using Golden Gate Transit

Take a Golden Gate Transit bus to the Transbay Terminal (or Golden Gate Ferry to the Embarcadero Ferry Terminal).
Walk to Market Street and take either the 2 Clement or 4 Sutter to UCSF Mt. Zion Medical Center, exiting at Divisadero St.

From the Peninsula and the South Bay (San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara) using CalTrain

Take CalTrain to the San Francisco station.
From there, take the free UCSF Shuttle - Teal Line van/bus which stops directly in front of station CalTrain station (4th Street between King & Townsend Streets).
Transfer to a UCSF Shuttle - Blue Line van/bus which stops at UCSF Mt. Zion Medical Center.
From the Peninsula using SamTrans:

Take SamTrans to the Transbay Terminal and walk to Market Street.
Take either the 2 Clement or 4 Sutter to UCSF Mt. Zion Medical Center to UCSF Mt. Zion Medical Center, exiting at Divisadero St.
From the Peninsula using BART:

Take SamTrans to a connecting BART Station (South San Francisco, San Bruno, Millbrae, SFO, Colma, Daily City).
Take BART to Embarcadero Station
Walk upstairs to Market St. and take the 2 Clement to UCSF Mt. Zion Medical Center, exiting at Divisadero St.
