Jason W. Smith, M.D., Recipient of the UCSF Thoracic Surgery Residency Program Teaching Award FY22-23
In recognition of Jason W. Smith's professionalism, excellence, dedication, and contribution to the teaching of Thoracic Surgery Residents, Dr. Jason W. Smith was selected to be the recipient of the UCSF Thoracic Surgery Residency Program Teaching Award for 2022-2023.
Dr. Jason W. Smith earned his medical degree from the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago, then completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Loyola University Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in heart and lung transplantation at Stanford Medicine.
Dr. Jason W. Smith is a cardiac and transplant surgeon who specializes in heart transplantation and the use of mechanical circulatory support, such as artificial heart pumps and left ventricular assist devices. He is also the Surgical Director of the Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support Programs at UCSF.
